What an Honor!
Wow, am I surprised! Yesterday, towards the end of that embarrassing day, Mr.Darcy told me he wanted to introduce his sister to me. What an honor! I remember his exact words, he said, "There is also one other person in the party,'' he continued after a pause, ``who more particularly wishes to be known to you, -- Will you allow me, or do I ask too much, to introduce my sister to your acquaintance during your stay at Lambton?" I was taken aback, but I was happy. Actually, it was a good feeling to know that he did not think ill of me from that day that I refused his hand in marriage and made all those horrific false accusations. It was quite satisfying! I accepted, I was very excited, I could not wait to meet her, for everyone has been saying good things about her.

I know my good friend Darcy better than most everyone. He means well, though it does not seem so all the time. The fact that he loves you is only further acknowledged through this special offer. I hope everything works out as it is supposed to in the end - for you and for me.

Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for you that he has been so amiable with you lately. And yes you are right, that is a great compliment for him to introduce his sister to you. Even though things have been a little bumpy with him from the previous months, I know he still has strong feelings for you. I hope are well, I can't wait for you to come home again!
Of course he wouldn't hold it aganist you Lizzie, for he, like myself, realizes your worth and sees what a rarity your honesty is, though you can be blunt. If he did not see this i would call him a fool in addition to a rude egomaniac. However, I don't know why his opinion would matter to you, for you never care what others think of you. My daughter don't stress on this too much he is not worthy of your anxiety.
